Trust in God

We as God’s servants, ask the Lord everyday for good examination results, a promotion from your grouchy boss, a wife that you can cherish and vice versa, a child, a piece of chocolate, and all kinds of random things that just suddenly pop into your head. We ask God for many things that we ourselves cannot achieve but God helps us relive our dreams and resurrect our hopes. But just how are we able to achieve it if there is no mutual trust between you and the Lord?

Sometimes we just take things for granted and make a thoughtless prayer hoping that we would get things effortlessly and purely rely on Him, thinking you life will go on good just because you THOUGHT you prayed. You think your praying, but are you really? Is there sincerity in your prayer? You think you trust in Him, but do you? Do you still have doubts? Do things other people say affect you upon attaining your hopes and desires? For most of us, these things still boggles our minds.

Well, one thing for sure, you’ll never know which prayer God would grant and which prayer he would not. But actually, ALL of this prayer stuff, and I mean ALL of it, purely depends on your trust with God. To make it simple-sounding, when you doubt, what you actually believe is He may or may not grant your prayer, and even though you’d deny it, you don’t really believe God can do everything. In your doubt, God will decide to hold on to your prayers until you start placing full trust in Him, and obviously that’s not all!

If you don’t make an effort to increase the chances of getting your prayers fulfilled, why would God want to help? He would, again, hold on to your prayers until you start putting in the maximum effort you believe you can put in to your goals, and that’s really it. I don’t know about everyone else, but I know that God helps me in every bit and piece of my life, even how minor as it appears, even if may not seem to be very nerve-wrecking, the things you personally face and get worried about are sometimes the most ridiculous things you could ever ask from God.

But, God did not put that aside, not one bit. He still gives attention to everyone of us. No matter how big or small your prayers are, as long as you have trust in God, and ask for things which can magnify his glory, he would not hesitate to help us to achieve eternal life. From personal experience, I remembered long ago, about 6-7 years ago, my family were on vacation in Sri Lanka, since they had a vivid interest in all these exotic places.

It sticks in my head, 26th December, the date when we were on the way to the hotel, the beachside houses, barely made up of any solid material, just zinc roofs and cardboard (although I can’t really remember, it seemed like cardboard to me), I witnessed the houses, just swept away by the waves…. But it was no ordinary wave, it was the end of the tip of that wave, it was a deep sea volcanic eruption, which caused a Tsunami, the helpless citizens of Sri Lanka ran behind a solid structure, banging on every vehicle they see, going insane actually.

And I started praying, reciting the same prayer over and over and over again, lost in my conscience, the waves calmed for awhile, enough time for us to turn back to the city side. We were very lucky. But we weren’t. It was that Big Guy up there watching over us. That’s all. Exams. You get worried. Scared. Then you start to tremble. You start sticking your face on your book in the very last minute. You read. Then forget. Scared again. And you read again. All in the very last minute. But what’s the point? Just ask Him! With all those preparations you made, He wouldn’t mind helping you out.

After all, He’s our God. If he can create galaxies and stars, I think he won’t have a problem helping you with writing stuff on papers. As it is said in Proverbs 3:5-6 , “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. ” Whatever you wish to do in your life, it’s up to you. But God has a plan for you, but He won’t be so direct. He will twist and turn your life as if it was a Steven Spielberg production and even if to try to defy it, he would put you back on track.

Basically, if anything comes out from God, it won’t be what you expect. But, if you’re willing to allow God to find your true meaning in life, it will definitely expand your horizons, giving you a holy and wholesome life. Proverbs 16:1 , ” The plans of the mind belongs to mortals, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. ” A prostitute can become a nun, if such contrast can exist, nothing can limit you to whatever you can get of out life, just remember, keep you trust in God present always.
